Cellshine has signed an industry-academia research agreement with Professor Ki Hean Kim’s Photonic Machine System & Image Processing Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) for the development of diagnostic imaging devices.

Professor Kim’s lab is the birthplace of Cellshine’s core technology — the non-invasive fluorescence imaging system for conjunctival goblet cell examination — and is internationally recognized for its expertise in bio-photonic machine systems.

The joint research targets three key areas of development: expanding the imaging field of view through an image-scanning-based wide-field fluorescence imaging system; developing a compact handheld fluorescence device for contact-mode goblet cell imaging to improve clinical accessibility; and advancing label-free, high-contrast cell imaging and corneal nerve visualization for broader anterior segment disease diagnostics.

Through continued collaboration with the lab where its foundational technology originated, Cellshine aims to reinforce GobLens’s technological edge and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation ocular surface diagnostic solutions.
